Before Dino, as we've always known him,  could be given his pedigree name, his father died suddenly. In memory of EC Coonattack Mr Morpheus (Sonny) we thought it appropriate to remember him through Dino's name and decided on Sweet Dreams both as a reference to Morpheus God of Dreams and to the place where we hope Sonny is now.

Dino hasn't had it easy. In November 2007 his neutering operation turned into a major internal op rather than the simple exercise it should have been as one of his testicles hadn't dropped and our vet had to carry out exploratory surgery to find and remove it. He'd just got over that when in January 2008 he was seriously ill.

We nearly lost our boy to something called an intersusception. He threw up one night, something he doesn't normally do but something all cats do from time to time. When we got up the following morning there was more vomit everywhere and while we have 5 cats we assumed it was Dino, going on the previous night's experience. We booked him into the vets for 6 p.m. that evening. He didn't eat anything that morning but otherwise his behaviour was reasonably normal although a little bit maudling which we find cats can be when they've been sick. That lunch time he threw up a pool of the most foul smelling yellow liquid we have ever experienced. We got him to the vets for his appointment. and the intersusception was immediately diagnosed. 6.30 p.m. he was on the operating table and by 7.30 p.m. he had had 6" of intestine removed. An intersusception is where the intestine folds in on itself. It blocks the passage causing the foul vomitting and the intestine folded inside starts to be digested by the intestine around it. Leave it too long and it will just fall apart and the cat will die. Dino is doing OK thanks to the prompt action of our vet, Nick Park, but please don't leave your cat too long without vet's advice if he or she shows symptoms like these.

Despite all of the above Dino has achieved Supreme Premier status - well done Dino!!
