SATURDAY 1 DECEMBER 2007 / SUNDAY 2 DECEMBER 2007 - VIKING CAT CLUB, RUGBY
What a great weekend - our first two day show. We took Sonny, Tess and Sweet Pea. We had got Dino booked in but his neutering operation was more serious than originally anticipated and he hadn't recovered sufficiently so we're resting him until the new year. So we substituted him with Sweet Pea who hadn't been out since Milton Keynes earlier this year. It was also Tess's first show as she's now been neutered. Sonny got his certificates on both days - one more and he'll be an International Premier! Sweet Pea got her certificates on both days - one more and she'll be a Champion. Tess was the star of our show. Not only did she get her certificates on both days, so one more and she's a Premier, but also got nominated for Best in Show Adult Female Neuter - what a star - we were so proud of her. She was soooooo nervous and we weren't sure how she would be on the rostrum on her own for the BIS judging but she stayed there so hopefully there are better things to come for her.
SUNDAY 4 NOVEMBER 2007 - FELIS BRITANNICA ALL WINNERS SHOW, STRATFORD LEISURE CENTRE, STRATFORD UPON AVON
A confusing day out. Sonny got his second certificate for his international premier but did nothing else. Dino got an Ex1 but didn't go any further. It was confusing because it took us until the Best in Show awards to realise that there had been a nomination selection for his group but the judge had done it as he went along rather than calling the contenders together to choose and advise on his choice. Oh well. We can't get used to these different ways of doing things. We always like to know the reasons why our cats have not gone further and it's a shame when judges don't take the time to do this. Sonny, Dino and Tess are booked in for the two days at Rugby at the beginning of December. Tess's first show so that could be "interesting". Dino was neutered the Monday after Stratford so we'll see how he feels as to whether we do take him along.
SATURDAY 20 OCTOBER 2007 - GARDEN OF ENGLAND CAT CLUB SWANLEY LEISURE CENTRE
Well, things are on the up again. A day out for Sonny and Dino. Sonny got his first award towards being an International Premier. Didn't do anything in the show - the Russian judge said he liked the kitchen too much!! Dino got a Best in Variety so we've put Morley down to a minor blip. They're both off to Stratford on the 4 November for the 2007 All Winners Show so we'll see what happens there.
SUNDAY 9 SEPTEMBER 2007 - VIKING CAT CLUB MORLEY LEISURE CENTRE
Still haven't got to grips with how this judging works! We took Sonny and Dino. The good news is Sonny got his third CAP award so he'll now be known as Premier Lunaris Sonny's Boy (there's posh). Dino didn't get passed the first hurdle unfortunately. No problems with his preparation this time - he looked great, no stud tail and so laid back he was horizontal. Unfortunately the judge on the day didn't like his look - too pretty apparently and not feral enough. Nothing we can do about that so we'll take him to Swanley in October and see how he does there.
SUNDAY 12 AUGUST 2007 - MAINE COON GUILD WORTHING ASSEMBLY HALL
Because of how far away this show was we only took Dino as he travels best of them all. He was so good all day but we let him down and showed what newbies we still are at shows. The judge found that he had "stud tail", the greasy patch that males get at the base of their tails. We hadn't noticed and never thought to look as he was only 6 months old. She commented on how well he was presented until she found that. He got a BIV but went no further. He's going to Morley in September for a Viking CC show - we won't let him down again.
SUNDAY 17 JUNE 2007 - ARISTOCATS CAT CLUB, THORNBURY LEISURE CENTRE
Lunaris Sonny's Boy received his second CAP. Mistymaine Sweet Dreams (Dino) surprised us all. Firstly he won his class and was nominated which we were really pleased with. Then the Show had a Maine Coon Special Award which Dino won. We think the phrase is gobsmacked! But that wasn't the end of it. He then won Best Kitten in Category and then Best in Show. We couldn't believe it - we were so proud of him. We were so pleased that Ron and Jean Brown were there for this as without their help, encouragement and support we wouldn't have been there.
SUNDAY 6 MAY 2007 - VIKING CAT CLUB, LINCOLN
We took Lunaris Sonny's Boy, Mistymaine Black Magic, Mistymaine Charlotte Gray and Mistymaine Sweet Dreams to the Viking Cat Club Show at Lincoln. Sweet Pea couldn't join us as she was calling and Tess had to stay home and look after Rosie. It was perfect timing for the kittens as they were three months and one week old and so just qualified for the 3 -6 month kitten class. It gave us the chance to show them before some of them went off to new owners. We were really pleased with the outcome. All of the kittens were classified as excellent with Mistymaine Black Magic and Mistymaine Charlotte Gray achieveing Ex 2s in their classes. Mistymaine Sweet Dreams went one better achieving an Ex 1 and winning his class.Lunaris Sonny's Boy at his first ever show excelled himself by achieving his first CAP award and also getting nominated.
